Trans-Affirming Healthcare

  • Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center provides gender-affirming hormone therapy and trans healthcare for LGBTQIA+ youth and adults. Dr. McMahan is the identified LGBTQIA+ focused point person, but additional providers are listed on website. Located in Worcester, but providers are in additional locations.

  • Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts offers sexual and reproductive health care, education, research, and advocacy. They strive towards a future of equal access to high-quality and judgement-free care for all people across the state while advocating and protecting those across the country from bans on their reproductive autonomy.  

Legal Support Services

  • GLAD’s Transgender ID Project offers free legal resources for transgender people living in New England seeking to update their legal name and gender on federal and state documents. Quick reference guides are also available for updating legal documentation.

  • Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition has documented important forms and links for transgender individuals updating their legal name and gender documentation for residents of Massachusetts. The website also includes quick tips and debunked myths about the process.

    • Namesake is a free online tool to assist with filing changing your legal name and gender marker in Massachusetts. Wherever you are on your journey, Namesake is there to help. With Namesake, you can complete all of the necessary paperwork for your court petition, social security card, US passport, and state ID/driver's license.

  • Bankrate has compiled free resources and requirements for people seeking to update their gender marker on their license, by state. Bankrate has detailed the requirements for each state within a table and included links to relevant resources for this process.

Support Hotlines

  • Hey Sam is a dedicated peer-to-peer texting service for people up to 24 years old.

  • Trans Lifeline provides peer support from trained volunteers and staff through hotline run by and for trans people.

  • The Trevor Project offers support from trained staff and has phone, text, and online chat options available for the LGBTQIA community.
